The IOI 2020 logo is made up of two national icons of Singapore: the Marina Bay Sands resort and the Merlion.

Opened in 2010, Marina Bay Sands (MBS) is an integrated resort built at the waterfront of Marina Bay – a popular sightseeing destination for tourists. The building is made out of three 55-storey hotel towers topped with a boat-shaped SkyPark observation deck. The SkyPark offers a magnificent view of the city skyline and a 150-metre long infinity pool.

The Merlion is a mythical creature with the head of a lion and the body of a fish. The animal's body symbolises Singapore's humble beginnings as a fishing village, while its head represents Singapore's original name: Singapura or 'lion city' in Sanskrit. A statue of the Merlion can be found at the Merlion Park in Marina Bay.
